Someone once asked Paulo Coelho the author of the famous book, The Alchemist, ‘What do you want to be your epitaph?’ He responded with these words, ‘Paulo Coelho died when he was alive.’
I was fascinated by this answer and the first question that popped into my mind was, ‘Have I been behaving like I am alive?’ So often we hear this phrase, ‘Are you living life or is life living you?’ And I wonder, if we ever fully answer this question.
I later went on to read what he meant by his statement ‘to die when he was alive’. Paulo Coelho says that a person who repeats the same pattern over and over is not alive. He further explains, that to be alive is to take risks, to push yourself to do something that scares you because you know you need to do it and be ready to pay the price.
We have four months left to this year and the questions that I have for you to reflect on are:
- Did you take risks this year?
- Did you step out of your shell and challenge yourself?
- Did you allow yourself to be brave?
- Are you still repeating the same cycles? Are you desperate to break these cycles?
The one thing I have learnt in 2022, is if you want to take risks and step out of your shell, you simply need to MAKE THE DECISION. As easy or tough as that sounds, it is what you need to do.
So how are you going to wrap up this year? Will you allow life to keep living you or will you start living your life?
To move forward and create the changes you desire to see, starts with you. Take a small risk, push yourself a little, let go of one fear and then keep on doing it.
It is time to be Alive!
