Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” (NIV).
A mustard seed is extremely small, however once planted it grows into a large tree. This year many have changed jobs, opened their own businesses or stepped out of their comfort zones to help grow their businesses. As you create the changes in your life, what is your end in mind? The seed that you are planting when taking on a new job, becoming self-employed or enrolling in a course, what do you want it to grow into?
Whenever we are launching a new service or product, we ask ourselves these questions:
What is the seed? In other words, what is the tree we are planting or better yet, what is the end in mind? Having the end in mind charters the way to move forward.
Why are we planting this seed? Depending on your circumstances, what is your motivation? For example, why do you want to get that promotion or why do you wish to step out of employment to set up your own business? What is your deep-rooted motivation? Is it money? Is it to challenge yourself? Is it to follow your purpose?
Who is this seed for? There are several questions you can consider here:
- Who are you doing this for? Is it for yourself, or is it for your family?
- Who is your target market? Why do you think your target market is interested in this product/service?
How do we want to nurture and grow this seed? Once you have planted the seed, how should you go forward? What do you need to put in place? What goals do you need to set?
Do we believe in the seed you are planting? Do you have faith in the concept/service or product? Do you have faith in yourself?
The seed you want to plant requires attention, commitment and passion for it to grow into the large tree you want. For it to grow you need to know why you planted it in the first place, you need to have clarity on how you plan to nurture this seed, and most importantly you have to believe in it and keep caring for your seed.
